Quote from Ivanovich:
[B]I'll try this one last time, because I can see English is not your first language. So perhaps you're misunderstanding me.
I do mistakes when I write but understand 100%.
If you're going to rent an apartment with a year lease, you claimed that you'd need to spend $5000 to get anything that did not look like the picture you posted.
Nope. I claimed that 5000$ is up-to-date price for apartment which satisfy needs of western manager: central district, 3 rooms (2 bedrooms in western notation), western renovation, modern building, car parking, security, modern bathroom and furniture. As you can see this is not luxury apartment at all, I did not include sauna, giant area etc. Please consider that 2 years ago you could find such apartment for 2500$ or may be 2000$. And 4-5 years ago price was 1000$.
Of course you can find apartment for 1000$ which "did not look like the picture I posted" but it will be not appropriate for western manager...
I said this was untrue, I have many - MANY - friends working in Moscow who are not reimbursed housing and do just fine at about $1000 a month. Don't believe me?
I do believe if they rented in 2004 but not in 2006. During last 2 years rent prices are up 100% or even more depends on apartment type.
Lastly, you quote your friend who rented a place in Chistie Prudy - which I also said was one of the most expensive areas there is.
It was an exotic example of person who pay today the same price that 7 years ago. It is very rare case.
