I have read some posts here, but with the progress of technology, need some up to date details

Which laptop would you recommend if require high resolution display (minimum 1920 x 1080) and ability to connect to 2 or more monitors.

I am considering Lenovo thinkpads, Dell Precision for eg M6600 or a Macbook pro retina.

Since l prefer high resolution screens, would going for the macbook pro retina give me the most desktop real estate, at 2880 x 1800 resolution?

Apple by the way has announced Java is obsolete and don't maintain it any more so would it work with IB, one of my brokers? since they require java to work.

Looks like this is not a high res laptop. From what I'm reading, it's 1600x900

I also prefer 1920x1080 or higher.

Some Qosmio has that resolution. Such as this one:

can we get back on topic please? as l said particularly interested in the macbook pro retina, for its ultra high resolution. would it offer more desktop real estate than a 30" monitor with a resolution of 2560 x 1600?
pc laptops, particularly Dell and Lenovo also of interest.
please comment

2560 x 1600 = 4,096,000 pixels
2880 x 1800 = 5,184,000 pixels

30" display is much easier on the eyes, than 15" or 17" on similar resolutions,

So you must determine how you quantify Desktop Real Estate; by total area or total resolution?

I would take a 2560 x1600 [30"] display over a 2880 x 1800 [17"] display in a heart beat.

I have no desire to squint 16-hrs a day

That being said, all else being equal, the higher the resolution for same screen size [inches] the better.

Lenovo [thinkpads] or Dell laptops with 1920 x 1080 may be the more affordable option, if price isn't an issue, MacBook Pro is a nice piece of hardware.
