This has been a tough few months for this account. I have happy to finally report that we are above our initial capital outlay. However, we remain well behind our high water mark so there will be no celebrations at this point.

The question I need to ask myself is whether I believe this is the big one, are we about to morph into something a lot bigger to the downside or are we going to continue drifting higher into the elections.

My position cupboard is rather bare, and I am carrying significantly lower exposure than I am accustomed to.

and here are my positions with equity reconciled to IB TWS.

I have decided to call this journal thread a RAP. I came on board to develop some discipline in this account, and I have actually decided to close it and focus on my real job which is trading a hedge fund focused on a specific market sector and geography. This was an account to express my global macro thoughts, and I close the account with a 3.7% profit after 14 months. It is by no means impressive albeit an out performance of the S&P500.

I am happy to say that my real job returns have been significantly superior. All the best to you guys on ET.
Mick

Quote from cyoungmark:

GL to you my friend in the coming months. Only two scenarios can play out from here in my mind. Either we tank or fly.

Looks like I will be leaving the party just when it gets started

Cheers and all the best. It is better to focus on the big cheese, but sometimes it makes sense to take a little detour (these often generate losses, preferably tiny ones...) if for no other reason than perspective/clarity or to learn something new
