A long time ago I have traded at the now defunct ETG (Schonfeld bought them...)
I would go to/try Schonfeld if they have you....
Bright might be my second choice.
My 2 cents

Hello,
I recently graduated from UConn in May 2011 with a BA in economics. I started going for my MS in Mathematics at Fairfield University this past spring. However, I'm looking to start a career in trading immediately. I was thinking about perhaps trying the prop shops. I do not have trading experience and would like to work for a firm that's willing to invest in an ambitious young person's education. I hear that Jane Street is the best, I'm not sure what other great companies are in the NYC area. The most important thing to me would be the education as I am raw talent and really want to learn how to do things the right way.

Will you folks please tell me earlier when something like this happens?...When I have to come to a thread 3 weeks later and delete many users posts...that is offending even if they were posting offtopic.
Reasonable enough, but many threads suffer hiJACKing and since they never get cleaned up, I've assumed it's because he has some sort of special relationship with site management -- in fact he claims to be a paid contributor to the site, and the mods have never denied/refuted that claim, as far as I've seen.

well...That remains to be seen...however I could not imagine that "site management" would condone a "special relationship" contributing offtopic.

I feel for you @OP
I'm still an undergrad right now so I'm not looking for any full-time things
Perhaps start by being a news junkie. It isn't just FX that's driven by news, don't be afraid to go to non-trad websites other than Bloomberg/Reuters
Good luck

I'm with a firm now. I don't get a salary, but the capital contribution is really low. So far I really like the firm and it's exceeded my expectations. If it doesn't work out at least I have experience although I'm very optimistic that it will. The only thing I don't like is that I have to pass the Series 56 before I can start trading. This exam looks to be nothing more than a pain in the butt.
