I usually average down into high conviction longs. It's like bottom fishing. I up my leverage from 3-5 to 30-50.

Yes, it's a symptom of his addiction to trading gambling. Unless he's doing it quantitatively, which I'm pretty sure he's not, then it is not going to turn out well without those calculations to prevent overtrading with sizes that are way too large.
