The choices might come down to :-

1. irradiate the Pakistan/Afghanistan areas.
or
2. Pull back to the States as in the 1930s

or number 3. Just don't fuck with the United States of America

I doubt that our vigilance is what is keeping us from more terrorist attacks. It seems more likely that the notion that we've very easily destroyed and occupied a large chunk of the ME is acting as a bigger deterrent.. I'm thinking that when the allies led by the US military rolled over Afghanistan in a matter of days that a message was received quite loudly and clearly. I'm thinking that when we rolled over Iraq with such ease and eventually pulled a disheveled and disoriented Saddam Hussein out of a hole in the ground and hung him, a message was received quite loudly and clearly...

Quote from oldtime:

well, there's a group of people out there who's sworn duty and job it is is to kill American citizens, innocent or otherwise. So we have decided to treat them like enemy combatants. That's why we don't give them a fair trial. ...

No one can argue with that, Oldtime, but I'd encourage you to think more deeply about this issue, and ask yourself if there is perhaps another policy direction we could move in that would be likely to produce a somewhat better result from the standpoint of our own interests, and possibly all the way around?

Why is there a group of people "whose [sic] sworn duty and job is to kill American citizens" ? What do these folks hope to accomplish? (It isn't just to kill us, obviously -- there is clearly an overarching goal, and they have even stated what it is, and how they hope to accomplish it.)

This much I'm certain of. It isn't because they are jealous of our "life style".

I have just been watching a program on the telly about the other side of things. For instance putting fluoride in the water supply doesn't protect teeth. It is a poisonous substance that reduces brain capacity and logical reasoning making people more docile.
Most of the West's media of papers and TV is controlled by a small number of people. Particularly Reuters, which is owned by the Rothchild family. Anything they don't like is not given air time if possible.
Wall St and banking is mostly owned and controlled by " you know who ".
The US presidency is more or less up for sale. Donors of huge amounts of cash fuel not just 1 party but both. Can't lose there.
Al Quaeda and the Jihadis might be surprised to know that their financing from the Pakistani secret service - the ISI - comes from the CIA.

Yes it is a very complicated situation.

Saddam Hussein plus his army was on the USA's favoured list for money back in the 80s when Iran was making trouble.

The Australian and brutal Indonesian police train and work togethor in the South Pacific region.

And so on.

I hear ya. If I was born in Iran I would have signed up for the pilot program.

It goes back to what we were talking about on another thread.

People are responsible for their own government.

The ayatollah is in his last grips of power and has convinced enough people that it is their sacred duty to kill Americans. So we as a country have decided to do something about it.

who's sic is zooming who?

The point is, you and I both know the United States hasn't done right when it comes to controlling crude. Now we have to pay the price. And unfortunately that means killing people that want to kill us.

The best thing any man can do is control his own government, just like any embarrassed (I know mine were) parent tries to control an unruly child.
