Why is just about every prop office a dark, depressing existence? No wonder so many want to trade away from the office.

There was a craps table in the hallway.

The dude on the camera sounds like is about to have a heart attack anytime soon, can hardly breath...

Posted by Don Bright on 12-08-11 12:47 AM:

Ah geez.... ok, me using the camera, yes I have pretty severe breathing ailment that has caused me to have to work from home for the last 8 months or so. Hoping to get better, so I can get back in the office.

I did this a couple of years ago.

That's a poker table in the office, LOL.

Agree about the remote trading, 90+% of new traders are remote, thus eliminating the need for so many offices.

And, thanks Mav, for thinking of me, LOL.

Happy Holidays everyone...

Several years back I was in Las Vegas, after having spent a week at Mandalay Bay I had a few hours to kill before my plane left, so I went by Bright Trading. I wanted to talk briefly with Don Bright but he was in his office on the phone, but while waiting around I decided to go to the Gun store down the street. I ended up renting some machine guns and used up all my extra time, and had to head off to the airport. It was the middle of the day and the office seemed somewhat deserted, most traders were probably off to lunch...or trading remotely. The video reminded me of that day.

Million Dollar buy in poker tournament... you guys "in"?

My brother had dinner with the guy putting this thing together, July 2012.

Keep your fingers crossed, don't want my brother's kids to go broke if he loses their inheritance, LOL.

I played in the last "biggest buy in" game (only $50k) a few years back with Bob and some of our traders and others. Not going to be in this one, just Bob. Can't seem to find the youtube of it... it's out there somewhere.

http://flapsblog.com/2011/06/02/wor...nefit-one-drop/

Other guys:

ONE DROP has received commitments from 15 participants thus far. They are: Guy Laliberté, Chair of ONE DROP and Founder of Cirque du Soleil; Bobby Baldwin, four-time WSOP gold bracelet winner and President & CEO City Center Group; Phil Ruffin, Owner, Treasure Island Resort, Las Vegas; poker professionals Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen, Daniel Negreanu, Johnny Chan, Tom Dwan and Tony Guoga. Quebec’s Casinos and a European group intends to offer satellites as well, plus a prominent businessmen will also join, in addition to Andy Beal

I guess Bob might be the "prominent business man" - I really don't know, I just heard from Bob yesterday that he did actually commit to this thing...should be fun to watch.

Don

edit: Just FYI, this entry fee is about 20% of his trading profits this year I think...he's had a pretty good year...and who knows, maybe he'll win the stupid thing.

Geez, i thought the standard procedure for these $100k or more buy-ins, was to get several people to take a piece of you ala "The Corporation" back a few years ago when Doyle, Phil Ivey and Co. took on Andy Beal.

Fronting the entire million? That's some big balls. I doubt any of the better poker pros will be able to do it.

I hear ya.... most of these guys, several of whom I know pretty well are still gamblers at heart...opting to play even the stupid games thinking they can always get someone to back them again for the WSOP or cash games. Andy Bloch, Barry Greenstein, Chris Ferguson and a couple of others are the exception... they actually respect the game and the money.

Have a good weekend everyone...

Ferguson and Howard Lederer are crooks. They had the golden goose and f*cked it up. They should get locked up. They couldn't just be happy making an easy several million a year. They had to treat Full Tilt like their own piggy bank. If they had managed their business like PokerStars, at least they would still have a viable business.

Poker was enjoying unprecedented popularity and gaining legitimacy. But then, Hamilton and UltimateBet, decided to cheat online players by looking at the hole cards. Now even the supposedly "good" guys, Ferguson and Lederer, are robbing people. It plain sucks.

Here is T3's trading floor in NY.

Yep, I think this particular video was one of our Community College classes that we offered to the College of Southern Nevada... one of the "continuing education classes" for (yes) more of the older people getting a free or almost free education. Sort of our way of "giving back" to the area. Our normal classes actually average probably 35 years old..... We've done those classes for about 10 years, not trying to teach them to become traders, more teaching them how to handle their own stuff and not be ripped off by brokers, investment advisors etc. We painted those classes with a broad brush, trying to help with financial basics... sort of like our 7 year run Radio Show.

Of course, only 2 or 3 for trading...the rest are monitoring the Company, tied to other rooms etc. And a web monitor for cyber chats etc.

We agree, so many traders have too much information, too many monitors.

Post up some stuff from your office, I'll certainly take any ideas. However, I must say that virtually everyone likes our main office (Bob and I and sometimes a couple of others)....

I can see it now "Extreme Makeover- Las Vegas and the Bright Brothers" -

But, if I can get feeling better, I will do some current videos, see what you think. I'm "hoping" to get back in the office, at least part time, sometime in January. My niece should be back trading in our room again as well...she always cheers things up.

I'm paying attention. All I can say is Don is gonna be paying me a check that will rattle his pocketbook when I start trading, and he knows it.

And yes, Mav, I'll pay for the pizza when in Chacago as long as you don't beat me up too bad for being this "turncoat" you mentioned.

And to think, you break the balls of a prior US Marine (Mustang = Enlisted once, then Officer), who could teach you how to take care of yourself if ever faced with one of those mobs that attacked people in Chicago this Summer for no reason...

Maybe you pay for the pizza(S) if I teach you these skills over a few weekends on the firing range, or indoor range?

And btw Mav, I am a Brooklyn pizza, New Haven CT coal-fired oven pizza guy, as well as Sicilain pizza guy. You've got some work ahead of you if you're gonna hit me with "turncoat" stuff, AND tell me Chicago deep dish pies (if you want to call them 'real' pies), are the best pizza in the US!

I think Don is going to make out just fine on the commissions. Don't you worry.

And I haven't fired a gun in 17 years! Do you really think it would be good for the ET community to have an armed Maverick?

An armed Maverick is fine with me as long as you're a common sense guy. Despite what the libs up north want you to believe, you have the right to carry a firearm to protect yourself.

And seventeen years? We'll probably be starting out shooting 10-15 meters max, getting the basics of of safety down, reloading, holstering, PROPER sight alignment, and PROPER trigger control.

Shooting is similar to trading in that you MUST have a system, and a discipline using no emotion to do what you need to do to shoot straighter than your enemy, or most likely, competitor.

I was in the corp from 1969-1975, mostly reserves, didn't go overseas. One of my main "jobs" was training others who did have to go to Viet Nam. I qualified Sharpshooter at first, made Expert by the end of my first year.

I still keep 500 rounds in a gun safe so I can go out and shoot when I want to. I know 500 rounds won't last long, but just in case, LOL.

We used M-14's at first, then M-16's of course.

Oh well, hope to see you guys in Chicago...

Mav, if he's sharing parking space with a gun store and an Italian restaurant, I've gotta believe he's got some street smarts to still be un-fleeced, and still living. Gotta give credit where credit's due!

I'm half-Italian, and like to shoot as a hobby now (not a gun nut though), so I may fit in well pulling into his lot soon? And no, I won't make anyone there any "offers they cannot refuse." LOL!

2nd Lt.

Med-Sep post knee surgery.

So much has changed over the past 11 years from what I'm being told by others from my OCC Class... I'd say 65% are in the civillian World now, and happier with that choice.

I have a Son going to Parris Island this Summer, and his Brother next Summer. I used to encourage it when they were in grade school, but of recent years have fought them on it, and lost. Guess when they hit close to 18, they do the exact opposite of what Dad wants them to do?
