Who rides motorcycles here? Lets see them!
When I signed up for ET, I was racing motocross on a CRF250, hence the CRF next to my name. Now I got a KX450 for the dirt and KTM Superduke for the street.

Daily commuter vehicle. Dang, I love going to work!
I use my bike as a daily driver to. The best thing about riding in SoCal is being able to lane split. Never have to worry about traffic, it's great.
Grew up riding YZ125's and 250's Haven't ridden for years. I definitely miss it. But you couldn't pay me to ride on 2 wheels in public. All of the punks who text and drive scare the shit out of me.
Anyway, what's the point if you can't be off the ground for 2 or 3 seconds at a time?
I'll post up pics in a couple of days. Just bought a '08 Triumph Sprint ST.
My daily rider -
2011 Triumph Bonneville T-100. Predator pipes by British customs. Over the winter im doing - Cafe seat and cowel, bar end mirrors and airbox removal kit with a re-map.
The reflectors are long gone that are on it in the pic
TON-UP!

I'll be honest, it's not the dying part that worries me as much as being maimed and disabled. I'm not one of those people who would make the best of being disabled, and have a news or magazine article and inspirational story.
I'm not afraid to admit it's a concern of mine. People do not pay attention driving, plus for some reason, a lot of drivers don't seem to see a bike or they think it's ok to tailgate one. I see a lot of that. The most dangerous thing is some idiot turning left right in front of you.
I also see a lot of young people riding sport bikes in shorts and tee shirts. I saw a girl riding a big harley in sandals.

Our whores in the government have mandated a lot of safety in cars, yet they still say it's okay to ride a motorcycle. Go figger.
Yet, I'm not against motorcycles, per se. I've had a few myself. It's just that they can be very dangerous.
I definitely don't like some of the people who ride them.
I've never figured out why an auto tire can last 80,000 miles and a motorcycle tire lasts 8,000 miles. Money for the service departments??

Hopefully this is the bike picture. I'm having too much fun.
Nice, keep them coming.
I like old Honda's can't find one cheap enough....Yet.

I love bikes. I've never commuted regularly on one and doubt I ever will because I find city/suburb riding too boring to make it worth it. I usually only encounter these areas for a short period on the way to the country or mountains.
Though I didn't ride at all this summer, I'm still on my first street bike, an 04 Yamaha FZ6. Have racked up over 11k miles. But I hope my next bikes are a new Triumph 675 Daytona and/or a new Triumph Street Triple R. I also love the new Ducati Streetfighter, but all the reviews say Triumphs triple engine is the most fun.
when I rode I did the same.

I sat on one this Friday. Salesman said "that's you". I said, I know. Something to work for. Anybody know who the patron saint of the stock market is?
Because, I really need to put a prayer together, ASAP!
My brother tell me to post this. Wow, really crazy and the man said he will never do this again not for 10 million dollars. Scroll down to the video.

Motorcycle shop maintenance/repair costs are outrageous.

Hey, been riding every month this year, and that is with a Wisconsin address. I have washed the bike twice to clean salt off, but I think I will make year round riding easily.
Nice Ducatti by the way!. Harley needs some imagination. They are as boring as it gets, and I'd be willing to tell Willie to his face, as well as the rest of the corporate followers that buy Harleys. They had something great in Buell's and F$%%^d them, but why would you expect anything else from corporate America losers who can't think out side of the box. They need Obama to bail em out and pretend like they did something. Yea Harley was saved by bail outs to their financial arm, and still don't get hwo they are failing with the crappy product they serve up year after year.

There are some great looking bikes in this thread. I don't have a bike now, but am hoping to get one next year.

Ok, I deserve a lot of abuse! Just got a ticket for +55 over limit. Boy that ticket sucks. I am thinking of getting a lawyer to reduce points, but the cost would end up the same. Regardless, I deserve a good ass kicking, even if it was a whole heck of alot of fun. I had full gear on, but at the same time, I get the inner kid took over the adult. F***, this is going to suck; fine, points, insurance wise, and there really is no but to it, other than I am alive, and it was fun while it lasted. The only good thing is I wasn't caught at the top end. Top end was 165, and when I saw it I said to myself, you are an idiot.
Anyway, there is my confession for the day.
How fast were you really going and what your ticket says?

'79 Yamaha XS1100 Special. Mags, shaft drive - I put a Kerker on it. Rode one for years. Bought it as a basket-case and rebuilt. Old-school cruiser style inline 4, and fairly light, so it moved quick. High center tho, so tricky in turns...

had bikes til I got married. wife is a nurse and had done rotations in emergency rooms. I had sold a bike because of the helmet law so I did not argue with her.
I thought helmets were dangerous as they restricted my vision, hearing and sense of the traffic at the speeds I typically traveled.

Quote from r-in:
The helmet is a problem story is false. People drive their cars with their radios on, windows up, and the cars, especially today are designed to keep noise out of the car. The posts on either side of the windsheild on all of our cars are a bigger problem for me everyday than my helmet, not to mention the normal blind spot in cars. Which of course is a danger for cyclists. I can't speak for anyone else, but I am more aware of traffic on my cycle than in my shell(car).
In two weeks with my helmet I found myself in compromised positions relative to cars making turns a few times.
It never happened without the helmet.
I am specifically speaking about beach areas where some drivers do crazy things for parking spaces.

If you have problems with your helmet on, then you should see a doctor to have your eyes and ears checked out. Studies have proven this, check Google. Helmets do not restrict anything. Some helmets will make it easier to hear cars over your loud motorcycle.

I used to ride bikes. Haven't in a long time, mainly because of traffic and storage issues. I always wore a helmet afer an incident when I was riding in a nice neighborhood and some SOBs tossed eggs at me and one hit me squarely in the eye. Even though I was wearing sunglasses, i was lucky not to lose the eye or suffer permanent damage. After that, full skid lid and face shield for me.
Now, knowing what I know, I wouldn't ride without roadracing gloves, boots and at least a jacket. Preferably full leathers. Kind of takes the fun out of summer riding when you have all that hot leather on, but sitting in the ER while a doc pulls bits of gravel out of your hands and butt is not a lot of fun either.
I see people riding sport bikes in shorts and flip flops, maybe a tee top on. I do get it, but the risk is just off the scale. If you ride enough, at some point a car will turn left right in front of you as though you are invisible. You can lock the rear brake and put the bike down or hit them and become a human missile. Either way, I want all the protection on I can get.
Quote from Bob111:
maybe because with helmet you ride more 'aggressively' than without?
for me-going with or without depends on destination. run to a liqueur store and back or browse suburbs at 45mph max-I'll go without, but
i can't imagine riding w/o helmet at 60-90mph in the night during the summer. your face will be covered with bugs. not to mention the fun ,when couple big ones hit you in the face. even when i was wearing full face good old shoei rx800 it feels like a rock.

One of the American Chopper projects. I had seen this bike the other day.
Liberty Bike
I remember watching this episode and lmao at the kid who kept trying to fabricate in copper the 3d face of lady liberty on to the bumper.
It kept coming out like those Easter Island Moai... too funny
The bike is behind glass, as I took the pic I realized the reflection of the statue was in image.
I was in Paris several weeks ago, motorcycles and scooters are everywhere there. I saw a guy on a Ducatti riding on the sidewalk. No one seemed to care.
We looked in several bike shops when strolling by-- I noticed a new kind of suit that blows up into some kind of giant airbag should you get launched off the bike--- seems like a great idea--- is this a common thing?

Wow, an airbag coat. I think at least Honda has some kind of airbag on their big touring bikes.
I have to admit I feel a little dorky walking around with my coat on as you can tell it has armor all over. I'll take dorky these days over skin grafts.
