NT 6.5 crashes all the time and in general is unreliable if you have open a lot of tick/range charts and write your own strategies. The backtesting is a major resource hog and crashes frequently, especially with tick data. Still, it is the best available and NT 7 which is due out very soon promises to fix a lot of shortcomings. If you are a programmer then NT 7 is really the only way to go, giving you a full C# library of commands plus its own built in wizard to get you started. Casual users should really enjoy it. Power users will be upset that it has so much potential but its stability causes so many issues. Charts: B (no overlay, for example) Backtest: B (tick data basically worthless) Ease of use: B (minor learning curve) DOM/Mgmt: A (easily manage orders and advanced strategies) Support: A (excellent forum and help) Third party: A (many indicators and brokers available) Reliability: F (crashes all the damn time) Cost: A (free for backtesting, and dirt cheap for live trading) |

I love Ninja Trader. It's extremely user friendly and reliable. I haven't had any major issues. The trade log is great too... |

NT has everything to please: excellent charting capabilities, a powerful scripting language based on C# making it easy to customize indicators or run fully automated strategies, advanced order execution capabilities. Support is responsive and friendly. There is one problem, however, which is reliability. One day out of two, I have problems with saving data or loading charts resulting in a corrupted data base or NT simply hanging. I changed my hardware, reinstalled XP, nothing helps. As much as a like NinjaTrader, I cannot recommend it - at least not with data from Interactive Brokers. |

Low Budget Development, still in infancy... This is supposed to be an advanced programmable front end API but, they try to restrict the user to utilize the platform within very tight boundaries set by themselves. Just too phobic to let you explore it's potentials. One has by far more freedom of API by IB as an example than NT. |

I would like to say that it wasn't fair to imply it didn't work. I had a virus on my PC that seems to have been causing the crash.
I am using it for free and the support staff tried to help... |
