This is a great program, especially for backtesting, though I know a lot of people like its charting capabilities as well.
With the new beta you can now backtest across thousands of symbols with multithreaded engine, so on a Core i7, it will use all 8 threads.
It has a walk forward processor as well.
The developer is constantly working on the software and listening to users for improvements.
Highly recommend. |

I have tried many programs but this is it. Probably its most powerful feature that easily destroys any other opponent out there is its backtesting environment. Until now I have not seen a better one that provides same reliability and speed and custom functionalities. But that's not all because Amibroker is a great all-rounder regardless of whether you are just a chartist, a developer and system tester or a trader or Picasso. Amibroker is like LEGO .... built your own dreams and wishes step by step to something real. There are no borders if you are a pro and you know what to do. I'm pretty sure you will like what it offers. Well, I do and I have become addicted to it.

Comment to trader07:
Auto-trading interface *is* supported, in fact it was updated 2 months ago. It is marked as 'beta' for one good reason: it relies on Interactive Brokers TWS API that we do not control. The same situation (reliance on 3rd party components as risk factor) is with any other software using IB API. |

I spent months configuring the charts and then the auto trading interface only to find by working through message boards that the auto trading interface is beta (and has been for years) with no plans to support production. So you cant really trade live real time with this. I switch to and am using NinjaTrader. Live real time trading. |

It was not an easy program to learn (I didn't study C++ in college). But I am hanging in there and learning a little at a time. Documentation is quite good. Huge user community and lots of usable code floating around - that is my way of learning. (I have used other software which had some pretty lame examples, and not many communicative users which made it impossible for me to learn well). Amibroker has proven to be very stable, flexible, and usable with any different data sources - as one user said, "proven to be a gem" -
Oh, I probably should clarify, I use it for intermarket analysis, strategy analysis in EOD or RT. I don't use it for automated trading - but use it for automated scans and signal generation.
