Ok, so here is my update to my previous rating. Neoticker has released a new version (4.2 Build 46) and it is a whole different animal in a very positive sense. This review concerns itself with intraday futures trading only. My main problem of stability seems to have been completely resolved. Other users think it was the Esignal data manager which caused all of it - I don't care - it works now. I currently use a multitude of charts (bar, and tickcharts, and am constantly exploring others, i.e. kagi, p+f, etc.), I program during the trading session to improve whatever needs improving (in formula language, not the more hardcore languages). NT is hooked up to a simulated IB account and trades automatically, while it fires alerts for my actual trading (which I execute manually on a separate computer). Occasionally I have to look up some information on the web. So considering all of this activity, NT has proved reliable and is standing the test of time (I have been doing this the past few weeks without any problems). It has become fun to work with again - a very usable tool. |

This software can do some really neat things, such as Neobreadth (make your own symbols), and some of the programming is very nice. The developers blog is also very educational. However, it also is very frustrating and has a steep learning curve. I have spent 2 years on and off trying to get a handle on it - and I haven't sold it yet, but I am always at the brink to do so. I feel like I have to handle it with velvet gloves, or it will crash again. No, it is not my computer, and not my graphics card - I have gone through all of that. I don't know what it is. Support consists of two entities, NT support (I don't know how many people that is) and Bruce on the forum. They will respond quickly - and often with a satisfactory answer. I have used it with Esignal - and generally, once I have a working setup - it hangs in there well when the markets get going. (However, I would never automate trading with it as it certainly a lot more unstable than Tradestation). But I have to stay away from using more than 2 tickcharts for instance. The EOD has been fairly unstable for me, and I have switched to using Amibroker for that - now that is stability. (really no comparison there). I'd hate to slam NT, but at the same time, for $1k I do expect more as it is basically unusable in many of its advertised ways. I'll give an update should the situation improve. |

I disagree with the recent negative comments.
Tickquest bug resolution and turnaround has been excellent based on my experiences. You do need to isolate and properly document the problem so that it can be reproduced by their support and development staff. Once reproduced they deliver the bug fixes very quickly.
Most of the complaints seem to be related to broker order servers. I suspect that some of those problems are due to issues on the other end. I use eSignal data feed and its connection is rock solid.
In addition I find the platform performance to be excellent and the response to feature requests to be reasonable. |

BUGS, BUGS, BUGS!! Wow...
looks like a very feature rich software package that I took the plunge and spent the $$ for the RT version...I have waited a couple of months to display this rating thinking it would be getting better or at least MY problems (BUGS) would be fixed but it is just the same frustrating things over and over....some features cause the software to close automatically, sometimes my group of charts dont even display (though I spent over 5 hours customizing my EXACT group to my specifications) it causes errors and i basically lose trading time and just get overly frustrated with these bugs.. My suggestion is read the forum, neoticker forum.. its free, there are many instances of users complaining about bugs, crashes and inconsistancy in the software. Again there are alot of great high level features but what is the point of these great features if you can never consistenly use them???? I have it connected to IB and i am nervous about executing trades... With so many other choices in charting software why bother.....again I wish I would of been a reader of the forums to get a good idea of its bugginess and not invested the money nor the time ... |
