Friend's think I'm nuts using such a low cost package, but I love it. It's not at all bare-bones, they just don't market themselves. |

The scanning feature is good, but has room for improvement. |

As a two-year user leaving with IQ daily, I have to admit that I am biased towards IQ Charts. It has an exceptionally clean, easy to use interface that makes it very easy to quickly eyeball patterns and indicators selected from drop-down menus on Mac or PC. Charts from 1 minute to monthly in seconds. As for the scans function, I input results from backtesting with other software (RT Investors), and save them for use end-of-day. Only two drawbacks: The daily ending prices for scans are not typically updated until about 8PM Eastern. Second you must use built-in indicators that are not infinitely variable for scanning. For example, you can select an EMA of 10, 15, 30 or 50, but not 22 or 23. But on the very positive side, the system takes about 3 seconds to scan EVERY stock in every market for your parameters, and the scans include very helpful fundamentals. For example, you can instantly scan for every stock with an EPS>1.5, a Closing price 10% below a 15 period EMA, volume over 1 million shares and a PE<30. (There is a hint here if you want to follow it!) The combination of TA and FA indicators for scanning is very powerful. |

I've used this software for almost 2 months now. It is not as sophisticated as some other products, but I find it to be a good, inexpensive, easy-to-use program for those who rely on your standard technical indicators. Further, I don't think I've even had to look at the manual to figure out how to use it.
The charts update every minute rather than streaming so some 1-minute scalper traders may not find it as useful, but for those who just want real-time charts and nothing else for swing trading, I would recommend it. Also, the IQZone indicator on daily charts which tries to show certain changes in sentiment has identified some good trading opportunities for me. Customer support appears to be fairly responsive. There's also a member center where members post their problems and suggestions for new releases. |
