The Good: Can't trade without it, able to write almost any condition or scan I can dream of, RealCode is an easy language to write in, easy-to-use platform, forums are somewhat helpful with questions/bugs, support staff on phone very helpful with tech issues, "Share" feature very nice, worth the $$$, CAN'T TRADE WITHOUT IT!
The Bad: Holy resource hog, Batman! Need dedicated machine to run it on, with nothing else running. Will lock up and freeze if running more than just Blocks on that machine (this of course will vary from machine to machine). Some annoying software "quirks", inadequate RealCode reference manual for more advanced programmers, lacks I/O to/from file, monthly charge for BackScanner feature, when it should be a one-time fee.
Overall, I'd rate Blocks an 8/10. Definitely room for improvement, but quite a useful tool nonetheless. I think some of the issues the previous reviewers mentioned have been addressed. |

I tried this software, canceled and got refund. Blocks software is a great new concept but at least a few years behind. So wait 3-4 years before trying it out. Its slow, buggy and a big sales pitch to open account with TD Ameritrade and trade with them. Yes, the same Ameritrade that lost personal records of their customers and does not feel bad about it. I would stick with their old software, TC2007. I have a feeling Ameritrade will buy them out and offer Blocks to their customers who seem to love things like that |

This will be a good C# platform when they get their s**t together. But for now, lay off until you don't see so many complaints on the blocks.com bugs forum.
Eg, every time I start the program, it wants to download 400 mb of data which doesn't save.
It would also be nice if they gave more than one sentence answers to complex questions.
Software is still getting bugs worked out, and so is the support. |
