I've been looking for an alternative to Tradestation for some time. Workstation did not have the features I needed ultimately, but I figured I'd give it a go for the hell of it.
It costs $220 a month, with multi-monitor support and just about everything else extra. I use a 19" and an old 15" for less "critical" information. With FS, I cannot use it with my setup; Tradestation's desktop setup lets me specify one desktop for each monitor. I realize my setup is a little abnormal though, so it wasn't a big bitch for me.
However, I figured a package marketed by a data vendor should be faster than that transmitted by a "conglomerate". It was not. Futures T&S came through probably 1/2 second faster in Tradestation. I was hoping for the reverse.
There are many cool features, like weather maps, news, and most everything else. But it all costs extra. When its all said and done, a package comparable to base CQG is probably only $75 cheaper. I've never used CQG, but I assume it is quite a bit better than Tradestation data.
If you're gonna spend $200 bones a month, go with Tradestation. If you're willing to spend north of $300, go for CQG. Futuresource is a good package, just not competitive for the price.
Note: They do not have an API (only a DDE link). |
