Would A Trade Of RG III For Cutler Make Sense For Both Teams?

  1. Bears coach Marc Trestman, already on a very hot seat, has benched franchise QB Jay Cutler, who just signed a mammoth guaranteed contract in the offseason. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ill-start-over-jay-cutler-vs-lions-in-week-16

The situation has obvious parallels to the Redskins, where first year coach Jay Gruden has clearly fallen out of love with RG III and benched him in favor of journeyman Colt McCoy earlier. In both situations coaches who were hired for their offensive accumen have been unable to get decent performance from the team's supposed franchise QBs.

Trestman's move is hard to understand, unless the bears front office greenlighted it. Trestman was already on the watch list for unemployed coaches. If he dumps two more games with Cutler on the bench, he might as well start calling realtors.

However, it is possible that the Bears want a do-over of the massive Cutler contract, which looks beyond foolish now. Who to bail them out but an owner who has long had eyes for Cutler, the one and only Dan Snyder. If nothing else, it answers the talk radio question of what will the Redskins do in the offseason to give their long-suffering fans some glimmer of hope.

Such a deal might actually make sense. If the Redskins keep Gruden, as they have indicated they will, it is hard to see what good can develop between him and RG III after this year. Gruden has repeatedly ripped him in the press, as have respected former players, for his poor grasp of pro fundamentals. He does have star power and can be explosive in an untraditional offense however.

The Redksins might be one of the few teams willing to relieve the Bears of their Cutler problem because getting a recognized talent at the QB position makes giving up on RG look at least defensible. The Redskins have formidable offensive weapons, and Cutler should put up big numbers under center for them. Of course, the Bears have some pretty decent weapons too, but he seemed to specialize in completing passes to the other team.

Sometimes a change of scenery is good for all involved. Make the deal.

Yeah, if you traded them both to the CFL. Cutler has always sucked and I never knew why he got so much hype. I guess looking hung over is a good look.

RGIII? We all know how I feel about that clown. Yet this shithead is still making a nice buck doing commercials.

Get them both out the league.
