With what broker can orders be placed using an Excel spreadsheet?

Discussion in 'Retail Brokers' started by RosyScenario, Apr 26, 2016.

  1. With what broker that handles futures can orders be placed using an Excel spreadsheet? Interactive Brokers has a free spreadsheet that can be modified to place and cancel orders, which is exactly what I need. But I want some other broker that offers this.

You can use Excel with R Trader, SierraChart and CTS T4 for Futures.
In My opinion the integration on R Trader is easiest, but that is biased because I am most familiar with it:

There is a substantial risk of loss in futures trading. Past performance is not indicative of future results.

  3. Thanks MattZ. I see an order can be placed with the spreadsheet, buy or sell; however, there appear to be no provisions to cancel an order. Does the spreadsheet have the capability of also cancelling an order?

To the best of my knowledge you can not cancel orders via excel, however, you can can specify a time via excel when the order should be cancelled. Additionally, you can cancel the order just by going to the R Trader platform directly and under the "Recent Orders" tab, just cancel the order directly. I hope this helps.

    Thanks,

Sierra Chart seems to have a spreadsheet but it's difficult to tell just from reading the documentation if it can place and cancel orders.

  6. Sierra Chart spreadsheets have gone to hell with the "new" spreadsheets. It is a complete joke on customers what they have done. It is completely unusable. Can't even maintain cell references when you move things around.

    Use IB with excel.

Thanks for that information; it's helpful. But still, the OP was asking for a broker other than IB.

  8. Sorry. I missed that part. I should read questions more carefully before answering in the middle of the trading day
