What about StockTwits?

  1. I'm quite an old-school trader but I understand the necessity to follow modern trends and to get more into social media. Information is easily available there and the speed how it's emerging is impressive.

So, I came across stocktwits. Quite good and user friendly. At first sight. But if you do decide to get into penny stocks: it is literally ALL pumpers. No one listens to the bears and calls them crazy. You won't have a clear understanding of a company if all you listen to is the good, right?

So, just one or two good points in ten. What do you think of this website, do you use it?

Fortunately, most at stocktwicks are not there for penny stock information.

Regardless, you can go to just about anywhere that allows penny stock discussion...you will find a lot of pump dumpers. Therefore, any forum, chat room or whatever that allows penny stock discussions...I would give them a big ZERO unless such discussions is small in comparison to all other discussions.

I use it a lot and like most others, I don't look at penny stocks. Most at stocktwits that I know are there for futures, forex, well known stocks, breaking news and general market discussions.

By the way, there was once a discussion at Stocktwits to remove any penny stock symbols (discussions) but I later heard they decided to leave it as is because it was so small in comparison to other types of discussions.

P.S. I've been using stocktwits for several years. I've only seen a handful of penny stock discussion and it was some serious pumping going on. Simply, the penny stock discussions are a small percentage of the overall stocktwits.

  3. Kinda like the old Yahoo boards. Every once in a while you run into someone who actually knows something, but the signal-to-noise is pretty bad.

Important for understanding how the herd thinks and most importnat for noticing when they are trapped. Sidenote, sometimes even the herd is right.

How many "actual" members does stocktwits have?

  6. I am on it for entertainment, mostly.

The only use I have found for it is when searching for the source of a move, that cannot be found elsewhere, there is a tendency for links to be dropped quickly into stocktwits for media pieces, I suppose, a bit like twitter although I do not use twitter. Again like twitter it is an avenue for egoists to post in 140 chars or less whatever is going through there heads, that nobody cares about, a cacophony of drivel that does not get read by the other egoist posters; & most by far are not capable traders. So IMO it is useful to 1) mess with complete stranger's heads eg troll , 2) communicate w/ a pen pal or two (I have one), or 3) last resort search for breaking "news" links. Twitter is probably better (?)

  10. Stocktwits no value for me, as it reminds me of iHub and Yahoo pump boards. Twitter is a great value. Thanks God there's much less disturbance.
