That's a very good question. (And I love you, too. This is politics, not personal.) I don't know Sanders. But in watching him I get the impression that while he's a Ralph Nader character, he does CARE about the well being of the country. He's expressing feelings and policies that he's held for a long time. ( I would not vote for him, you brought it up.) As regards Trump, whose well being is at the center of his universe, and his campaign? No need to answer. I also need to point out - before I exit this conversation - that in regards to Trumps professed talents in business, studies have shown that had he simply invested his fathers largess in an S&P index fund with dividends, he would have had a great deal more wealth than he does now. One of the reasons that I feel so opposed to this guy and the image he's trying to pass off to America, is that I lived fairly close to Atlantic City when he initially went in there with promises to help rebuild the place in exchange for licenses. At the time, Atlantic City made Detroit look like Paris. Well, he didn't do shit for the residents of the area in comparison to the money he generated with the licenses. And if you watched his first debate performances, he bragged that he was proud to have made his money and got out of Atlantic city because it is a "disaster". I invite you to study more about his background. Educate yourself as to who he really is. You're smarter than to fall for this bullshitting carnival barker.
How about you share with us why you think Trump is a fear-monger? How exactly is he 'fear-mongering'? From what I know and listened to (and I've researched Trump quite a bit) he only flipped on two issues - abortion and being a Democrat. On abortion, he came out clearly pro-choice over a decade ago, and is now obviously pro-life. He chalks that up to not really thinking much about the issue and living in a Democratic state; towing the line to get things done. Coming out as Democrat, again, was a political move to help his business in a blue state. He said you basically can't get anything done in New York if you're not a democrat. Now I would encourage you to read the interview Trump gave Playboy 25 YEARS AGO. I read it last night, expecting exactly what you said - that Trumps a flip-flopper who follows the wind. I was totally shocked. His views back then were almost EXACTLY VERBATIM as he expresses them today. On trade. On the military. On Asian trading partners ripping America off. On making allies pay for military protection. On OPEC. On being "tough and smart". On American leaders being a bunch of dummies who sell this country out. That was 25 YEARS AGO. That speaks volumes about his consistency and principles. https://thecorporateculture.com/2015/playboy-interviewed-donald-trump-25-years-ago/
That's disturbing. I'm not surprised. All this stuff goes hand in hand. Fortune 500, mainstream media and national politicians all share mutually aligned interests. Different heads of the same beast.
LOL. So he flipped on his PARTY AFFILIATION and he's running for President, and he flipped on abortion, which is one of the most sacred planks of the Republican party... ...and you are wondering why I label him an opportunist? Come on! How clear can all this be? He is so transparent. Por favor, see through him for what he really is.
I watched Fox for a few minutes earlier this afternoon. They have gone from mocking Trump to painting him as someone dedicated to repealing the First Amendment. He was described as Tony Soprano, running an extortion operation. His objection to Megyn Kelly was an attempt to dictate coverage to a network, which they regarded as the worst possible thing that could happen in the history of our country. Murdoch paid good money to have that privilege. It all seemed a bit over the top in response to a candidate skipping a debate. I suppose the desperation and anger in their comments was a realization that Trump had hit them hard financially. Their own comments, both earlier and today, more or less validate his complaints about bias.
Did you read the Playboy interview from 1991? In it, Trump said he's affiliated with Democratic party for business reasons, but his values are, and always have been, conservative.
Um, lemme see, I've got a Playboy from 1991 around here somewhere. Remind me, who was on the cover? It was Betty White, wasn't it?
My friend, you're asking something of me you're not willing to do yourself. It's not as bad as you think. I'm sorry Donald shafted you guys in Atlantic City. Maybe he promised the moon and didn't deliver. While unethical, sometimes things don't work out the way its planned. I'd love to see the evidence of his massive corruption and illegality, if you have it. I'm curious, if its so apparent, why hasn't the media crucified him with it yet?
