Thinking of going back to IB

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by Autospreader, Nov 21, 2015.

  1. Thinking I might go back to interactive brokers from TT. I've had multiple issues with the new platform and the cost is ridiculous for the current performance. I just wish there was an autospreader on IB platform. Any other suggestions?
CQG too expensive monthly for me

keep a little money in your account with the autospreader, and just use it for IB trades

I get you. Autospreader software is expensive. I think CTS are introducing a $500pm autospreader. Legging in is possible but requires substantial mental agility.

  4. Cost of TT is 400 monthly it's not expensive if it works for you. But I wanted to get down to where if I didn't run my strategy ( due to no edge ) I wouldn't be charged. I'm not a high volume daily spreader. My strategy only works for me when I have a clear edge and 3-4 months out of year it generally will be quiet

I can see the value of an autospreader for monitoring a large quantity of spread quotes. But for execution of a specific spread, it's a simple matter to setup & execute the spread using IB's generic combo.

It sounds like you were previously on IB. Wasn't this sufficient for your needs?

  6. I trade an inter market spread not listed on exchange with a very wide bid/ask on 1 leg

I don't see why that would make a difference. You can do only so much to optimize trade execution when you don't have an exchange-support spread.

If you setup your spread using IB's generic combo, you can set the order type to LMT+MKT where the difficult leg is executed first as a limit order (based on the spread price you enter). Following execution of the first leg, the second leg is executed as a market order to establish your two-leg spread as quickly as possible. How can you do better than that using an autospreader?

  9. Admittedly I've been away from IBKR for a few years. So I am not up to speed on there platform. The main difference would be that a autospreader "requotes" the spread and moves your limit order on the 1st leg. Also you can write order rules as well. For instance something simple like if bid is great than 50 on hedging leg then pay up -2 tics. etc...

  10. It's not going to change anything ultimately. Autospreaders are useless.
