Shading for unread threads is gone???

Not sure how to describe this, but when you click on the forums link at the top, you see the newest threads before getting a list of all the forums further down. There used to be a shading differentiation between the threads that have new posts you haven't read yet and the threads you caught up on. This shading is now gone, and all of the 25 newest threads show up exactly the same making it difficult to see what's new. Is this a glitch or just temporary? Anyone else see this?

I got halfway through adjusting that on Friday and never finished it.

But in an effort to be more consistent with other pages that show a list of threads for a particular forum, thread titles that are shown in bold have unread posts, and threads that are not bold should be considered read with no new content. Hope that make sense.

Yes.. I can see it now. Its funny because when the shading was removed and the bold thing wasn't working for me, I found it too difficult to see which threads were new, and gave up on trying to read anything.

I have to say though, its still not as good as when the shading was there. For some reason, its easier to see the difference between read and unread threads in each individual forum, perhaps because each thread starts out with the little red icon that takes you to the first unread message. Without this, and just relying on bold/not bold, its in some way harder to read.

To further that consistency, consider including those same bold/no-bold titles for the list of threads shown at each of the Forums listed on the home page.

    • Yes...... I think it was at one time.
    • The bold/no-bold titles sure does make it easier to browse ET.

  6. And this would facilitate being able to scan all the new unread posts from all the forums and not just click the New Posts tab and see only the new posts on the forums that someone else selected and then leave, as it is now.

I agree. I don't like it as is. I'm going to work on it some more. Thanks for the feedback.

Definitely. The issue is that I piece together various modules from varying authors to come up with what you see now. The problem, as you can guess, it that each of these modules handle the new/unread concept differently. So unifying them all is basically a pain in the ass to be honest with you.

I agree. It's a work in progress for sure. But I definitely want to get it right, so we may have to work through a few iterations before it's spot on.
