I would like to start a thread about protection of your software. I read a few remarks about this in another thread. But apparently nobody really pays attention to this problem. What is the problem? Almost all existing software is full of risk and does not protect your intellectual property at all. Many say: do you really think your trading techniques are so smart that they want to steal it? But that's not the point. The point is that what is mine should stay mine, no matter the value. So I have already a few remarks: Tradestation: their so called protected eld's can be cracked in minutes, all you need is to pay a few $ and people will do it for you. So security ZERO. On top of that they have a continues connection with your computer. What for? There are other possibilities to do what they pretend they need it for. But they prefer to be able to watch everything they can find on your PC, including self build indicators, tradesplans.... So again security ZERO. Multicharts: the same remarks as for Tradestation. Security ZERO. Ninja Trader: the same remarks as for Tradestation. Security ZERO. Sierra charts: ???? Amibroker: ???? My questions are: how can you protect yourself? Dll? And how does this work in detail? Special software to encrypt or obfuscate or.... Who has a (if possible waterproof) solution for this problem?
Computers are very useful tools. But the problem is that, if you are not an expert in ICT, anybody can steal anything from you, sometime even without you noticing it. I agree that there should be more posibilities to protect yourself. And if possible a solution that cannot be hacked.
I am not familiar with any of the technologies you mentioned but you could compile your code or use an obfuscator.

Why are all the software developpers paranoid? Why is Oracle paranoid? Why is Microsoft paranoid? Why is Sony paranoid? ............ What is mine should stay mine. Do you leave your car and house opento let people sneek around? Why do you need a code for banking, for creditcards, for paid memberships of any kind?
Yes, their software let's you protect your code via DLL (C/C++/NET). But there is no such thing as bullet proof protection anywhere. Forget it!
What is the use to protect if you cannot protect? http://secureteam.net/ looks to me working for every program, not only for Amibroker. They pretent the code is unbreakable?????? If you watch their client list....
You should go to Russia or Chechnya. Then you will see that what looks like paranoid in the US is reality over there. And if you don't take it like reality it might cause your death. And then your death will not be an illusion. Paranoid is about illusion and delusion. But if you THINK it is illusion or delusion, but it appears to be reality, you might get in deep trouble.
