Props with APIs

Discussion in 'Prop Firms' started by Buen Someritano, Mar 24, 2015.

  1. I have a team that has developed a new black box trading system.

We're looking for opportunities to trade proprietary capital.

We would like to find an opportunity where we can:
. Use an automated API that does not require human interaction.
. Connect to the API with an open protocol like REST, SOAP, FIX
. Trade all stocks and ETFs (including penny stocks under $1)
. Avoid all leverage (including Forex, options, Futures, etc)
. Send signals with no minimum trading frequency requirement
    . Hold positions overnight
. Avoid paying an initial cash contribution
. Get paid for performance without a Series 7 or 63 licenses

If anyone knows of ANY prop shops with APIs, I'd appreciate your input. I KNOW these criteria are very specific, so, even if all the criteria are not met, we can find a way to accommodate any requirements a prop may have. We just need to be steered in the right direction.

  2. Probably will be hard to find. No cash contribution for new traders is rare, and holding overnight is frowned upon by most firms. As for an API, use an open source tool such as Tradelink. I have had great luck using it with Sterling. Goodluck.

  3. Thanx for the reply, John. Lack of capital is the issue. We are developers and have just reached the record-building phase of development of our program. We have a very small account set up with Tradier that we have been using for testing lower priced equities and now need to optimize for more expensive equities and positions, as well as build the record for the lower priced equities we have been working with. This requires capital we don't have. Our hope is to find a firm that will allow us to work on contingency with the lower priced equities and phase into higher priced ones ,as our record and capital gains, with the lower ones, grow. They can offer whatever amount of capital they see fit to risk, until we prove our worth of greater risk. Our algorithm requires the ability to hold overnight, up to 240 days, and trade as frequently or infrequently as the reactive algorithm and price movement dictate. To clarify, our system avoids options, futures, leveraged ETFs, and ETNs, at this time, and has been profitable trading long only positions, in all market conditions. I know we will be hard-pressed to find the right firm. We just need a door opened for us, to let us show what we can do.

What kind of returns are you talking. With the type of trading you are talking I'm guessing a hedge fund would be better than a prop group.
