Philippine Outsourcing

  1. Hello all

I have been a member here for sometime and get lots of good info. I thought this may be a place to pose this question.

I have been a forex trader for 9 years but have always held other jobs or projects. At the moment I am living in the Philippines running a small call center which supports an aviation company out of HK. I wanted to see if there may be a way to help fellow traders or anyone who has connections in finance that may find the use of local inexpensive workers beneficial.

Or maybe we can start a new turtle experiment over here!

  2. How do you like living in the Philippines & can you give us a description of the value proposition? I have a retired distant uncle there but have never visited. Always intrigued by foreign places.

  3. It's great here as long as you have a little patience. The people are friendly and the prices are right. It can be a little rough out of the city in the province but for the most part its paradise.

I have been working with my agents now for 10 months and the talent here for the price is unbelievable. You have graduate level employees with a strong command of the english language happy to work full time for $325/mo. The small campaigns ie. inbound/outbound calling, email marketing and web development are fine I would just like to find a way to somehow involve my trading life with the BPO(business process outsourcing) biz because that is what I love.

Would love to here some thoughts from any members willing to discuss. Thanks

Actually there is another rather active thread about traders in the Phils, it seems several ET members live there.
I've actually visited twice lately as to me Manila is more fun than where we live (but not for the rest of the tribe who feel very confortable over here)
Makati, Global City and the new casinos feel reasonably posh and safe, abt everybody speak English, even some philipinos among each other, but safety is the main issue for us not to move there, kidnappings seem way higher than in other parts of Asia, and in Manila wealthy families, especially local chinese ethnic (but not only them), appear a regular target.
BTW I noticed the Rolls Royce, Ferrari etc... car dealerships in Global city, any of you guys or you close friends dare to leave Makati/Global City driving an expensive car ? I'd be afraid the car get highjacked or kids get kidnapped on their way to school everyday, it feels stressful.
Otherwise again not too bad of a place, if I was single i'd probably move to Manila for a little while.

Top 10 in US[consumer reports rated] go for several US dollars to less than $5.Some have toll free phone some dont. Good area, phil... i USUALLY ask customer serve where they are.Your area is always good, like TX, LOL. 6. Yeah you're pretty much spot on...good centers are around $5-8 per hr. Lots of companies moving from India for the more neutral English accent but the infrastructure is only slightly better.
