Looks like a good time for OH to renege on all those accounts they opened with low commissions.

Let it be known that E trade didn't screw with the Brown & Co. customers.
OH commissions and Trade Monster platform. I stay.

They don't have a sweep to a universal account like IBKR?

I don't follow all the product updates with OptionsHouse or TradeMonster, but I was poking around the TradeMonster option chain selector today and noticed several choices that are relatively new including PROB ITM ANYTIME, PROB ITM EXPIRATION and STANDARD DEVIATION.

Pretty standard statistical stuff, but nice to have them. I hope one these years Interactive Brokers adds them, too.

  5. In the email they sent a link:

Allegedly OH isn't going to change commissions... and "as long as you have a funded account as of Tuesday, May 27, 2014, any subsequent accounts you open would also leverage your existing OptionsHouse rates and wouldn’t change."

I hope they do something with OH's platform ... it's very simple, and ok ... TM's platform looks pretty nice although I might need another monitor if I was going to use it.

Sure they will change commissions over time once they move to a single platform for all customers. That will be the most practical choice for them.

  7. The best of both worlds would be the OH commission structure combined with TMs options tools, which are pretty much the best I've seen so far.

But TM kills you with the $15 base fee on option spreads - and that's 15 bucks both ways, opening and closing a position. From a commission standpoint OH and TM couldn't be further apart.

And get some 3rd party to design the charting features - both platforms suck something awful in that regard.

  8. Sorry to reopen an old thread, but optionshouse/trademonster is horrible with keeping their platform up. Their platforms always seem to crash when the markets get volatile. I have some options expiring today, probably not too problematic, but this happens ALL THE TIME!

  9. I used to have some issues with the OH platform running really slow. It would take awhile to cancel orders sometimes or awhile to update they were filled. I would cancel the order then 5 seconds later the options would pop up in my account. It eventually got a little better I think though. I also had a lot of issues with getting filled in thinner markets.

Probably my most frustrating issue with them was they busted an option trade on me and it caused all kinds of issues. I made a very nice profit. But then the account showed my funds as double what they were, then negative. My account went haywire and showed all kinds of weird stuff and positions. They didn't even bother to notify me it was busted. Still question whether it should have even been busted.

Anyways, that's my rant. I'm with IB now.
