    • Border agencies were 'ringing alarm bells' during the past two years about about the federal government's capacity to manage the immigration issue
    • The claim was made in a 41-page report was presented to the Department of Homeland Security in March
    • The Obama administration considered the problem a 'local' one and didn't want it to overshadow the President's plans for immigration reform
    • The administration has denied that it was too slow to react and claims the current crisis is 'off-the-charts different'

The Obama administration has been accused of repeatedly ignoring warning signs over the past two years that showed a growing number of unaccompanied children from Central America were crossing the Mexican border into the U.S.

Agencies like the Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as well as politicians north and south of the border were all ‘ringing alarm bells’ about the federal government’s capacity to manage the situation, according to a report presented to the Department of Homeland Security in March.

The 41-page report was compiled by a team from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).

In August 2013, the researchers had discovered a makeshift transportation depot manned by Border Patrol agents at the Fort Brown station in Brownsville, Texas.

Thirty agents were assigned to perform such tasks as washing the children's clothes, driving them to offsite showers, and making them sandwiches.

The White House was even directly involved in efforts to care for immigrant children in early 2012 when it helped negotiate a temporary shelter at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Yet the Obama administration considered the problem a ‘local’ one.

    If only . . .

  4. I don't believe he "ignored" any such warning.

His behavior is consistent with this border mess being INTENTIONAL... part of his Cloward-Piven strategy to DESTROY AMERICA and replace our government and culture with Socialism.... just like his daddy said was best.

America needs to wise up and stop this bastard before it's too late.

    :(

Sadly we're nearing the point where over half of the country will be getting freebies and they'll continue to support his irresponsible behavior and policies so long as they benefit. Today's society in many cases has a pathetic entitlement mentality. And I cringe as I think back to my grandfather, with a 4th grade education, who started a company prior to the Great Depression, and persevered and through hard work ended up successful. He never walked around asking for food stamps or any other 'handout'. Back then people were proud and actually had a strong work ethic.

  6. Similar to my Grandfather... born in 1880.

Told me as a teenager, "The world doesn't owe you a living. Make something of yourself." And, "If you plan on eating regular, you'd better plan on working."

I really hate the entitlement mindset and all those who promote/endorse it.

Mine was born in 1883. He worked until he was 85 .. up at 4:30 every morning.

Today we have so many liberals who like to bitch and moan for 'change' just because they have nothing better to do. Examples are Hobby Lobby, wanting a minimum wage of $10 or $15, bitching when Republicans wanted a small cut in food stamps, trying to make these illegal border crossings sound like we're the bad guy f we send them back and one could go on and on and on .......

And in the end all of the above cost us, the taxpayers real $$$$$. And given the deficit that's at $17 trillion or so liberals don't seem to care. I expect most are clueless about financial/economic matters. Maybe when we hit a tipping point and out debt payments alone exceed our tax receipts then they'll wake up. But at that point it will be too late. In the meantime, they clamor for MORE free stuff.

  8. All true, sadly.

    :(

  9. Why isn't the authorities in Texas doing something about the border crisis ?

I believe they are. They're asking for the National Guard to come and turn the kids back into the desert.
