Newbie question on ES

Discussion in 'Index Futures' started by HeSaidSheSaid, Apr 27, 2015.

  1. it seems ES futures doesn't always move in sync with the cash index. For example, the cash index moved up in while ES futures kinda moved down in the first 4 minutes in this morning morning session (each candle in the screen captures below is 1 minute long). though Later time in the day, both indexes moved in sync together.

please tell if this is a typical behavior of futures (generally speaking). There're some instances futures are out of wack with its cash index, but most of the time, they're pretty much in sync with each others . please confirm. Thanks

You are comparing ES, which is the future derivative of the SP500, vs Cash of DJIA.

Actually the SPX is the cash index of the S&P 500 [not the DJIA]

I agree with you. My response was to the OP [as additional clarification to the OP's question], however, I did hit the wrong reply button, which made it seem I was replying to you, which was not intended to be the case. My error obviously.
