I've recently completed implementing an application that records Depth of Market data for futures with IQFeed and Rithmic. I noticed that I can get NASDAQ OpenView's equivalent to Depth of Market for only $19 more a month from IQFeed. My question is whether or not this data is worth recording or not.

My main interest is futures, but I could perhaps see myself trading stocks at some point as well. Originally, I was just interested in top of the book data on the principal components of index futures, but I'm wondering how useful this data would be for designing trading strategies on equities. For instance, what are the pros and cons of trading stocks based on order book data collected from just one exchange? How useful would looking at SPY order book data be when I go to model ES, and other pairs of indices vs. futures and ETFs vs. futures bases?
