My PnL: From 170k to 460k in 14 months

  1. Hello Everyone!

After developing and backtesting my systematic trading strategies. I opened an IB account in July 2014 and started trading my strategies.
I trade mainly futures(equities index, bond, commodity futures), fx and a bit of ETF in G10 markets. My way of trading is roughly 80% systematic and 20% discretionary. I have now automated half of my strategies using Python.

Past 14 months have been very good for me. I made around 300k with 170k starting capital. Here is the report from IB:

My next plan is to start up a CTA. I am an Asian based trader. Do you have any advice on how to be in this business and attract potential investors?

I can be initially funded from family and friends, but is there any good idea where I can get my track record noticed and attract investors?

I welcome any advice and comments. Thanks!

Congrats on the 2nd 7 months, but what happened in the first??? Zero returns?

I would say investors like to see continuous growth even if it is much slower than your 2nd half's....

  3. Congrats! Keep up the good work. With a little more track record like that, you'll have investors helping you figure out how to take their money.

Why do you want money from others?

1st post showing extraordinary results. Looking for OTM. And you ask why?
    Pretty obvious. Scam.

  6. Is that a typo? I figure you meant OPM - Other People's Money. I doubt systemacticmacro will last more than 5 posts on ET.

Are you a scalper or a swing trader?
What is your average holding period?

typo... but then again... OPM would soon turn into OTM "Out of The Money"

  9. If you are confident enough, you don't need others' money. As I know, brokers or prop trading firms can always provide the ideal leverage u want.

  10. I kind of never understand why successful/profitable traders want to hire outside investors. Nothing but a headache and pain in the ass when you have people you have to answer to.

If you are truly, as you say, are successful and profitable in trading...just let Compounding do the rest...before you know it...you'll be a very wealthy  man, or woman.
It's amazing how fast an account can grow with compound growth. it's Explosive growth.
