It seems like the news hasn't been this bad in a long time

Ebola. Ukraine crisis. ISIS. Israel and Palestine. The potential for large scale race riots after an acquittal of Darren Wilson. All of these crises seemed to have ramped up in the last couple months.

JP Morgan says the Ukraine situation has the potential to cause a Lehman-style crash. Do you see Putin backing down? I sure don't. I also don't see the West willing to do much more than sanctions. Western democracies that are hamstrung by liberal pacifism are simply not suited to fighting war-relishing countries like Russia, or China for that matter.

Same thing with Ebola. Maybe the whole thing will die down, but what if it doesn't? It's like something out of a movie. But unlike Hollywood, developing vaccines is alot harder than people think.

And then we have ISIS, which is even scarier than Al-Quaeda, and which has many members inside the West already.

Why would anyone want to be a medium to long term investor/trader under these conditions? Combine this with the fact that it is a gigantic, QE fuelled bubble.

Barton Biggs' fascinating "Wealth, War, and Wisdom" talks about cycles of prosperity and calamity throughout human history. I think life has been great for alot of the world after WW2, and I truly hope it lasts because it is the poor, not the rich who suffer the most during calamity. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever.

I believe it is in times like these that we must look to God. The Bible warns us that things will get a whole lot worse before the end times to make way for a New Heaven and New Earth for those who believe.

And where were you in '62? You prefer the conservative approach? to bomb Moscow? That'll work.

I suspect that God will be pretty pissed-off at what those who believe have done to what he created for them. I doubt he'll be too eager to bestow rewards. But why not hasten the end by making things worse?

  3. Think it's bad now?

Just wait until some year's 9/11 when A THOUSAND bombs will be set off in a coordinated attack at shopping malls, stadiums, schools... all because Odumbo allowed jihadists to cross the southern border unchecked. (Hope the terrorists don't have dirty nukes.)

    :(

  8. Never Fear When Cruz is Near:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DALLAS (AP) — Firebrand Sen. Ted Cruz is sounding increasingly like he's made up his mind to run for president in 2016.

The tea party-backed Texan's rousing speech Saturday in Dallas energized thousands at the summit of Americans for Prosperity, the political arm of the billionaire Koch brothers.

Cruz said of the GOP — quote— "We're going to win in 2014 and 2016 is going to be even better."

His speech came a day after two other possible 2016 presidential candidates, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, gave spirited addresses.

But the crowd was friendliest to Cruz, whose troublemaking tactics have enraged congressional leaders in both parties but made him a superstar with conservative grassroots activists.

Cruz has never ruled out a presidential run and now says "time will tell."

  9. Cruz is a formidable opponent to the democratic party, in just that he is capable of holding a great many spell bound(some even drooling) :D

As to whether or not he turns out to be the great white hope or the latest right hype, time will surely tell.
