This is a bit cheeky, but in the best intended spirit going to do it anyway. Let's summon the big boys (and girl), in no particular order:

  2. I would ask every question under the sun aimed at "WHY not to start trading". This is what your pertinent question is!

Go through every aspiring traders journal and see the struggle it is to be a consistent trader and acknowledge that the struggle is real and the success rate is only 8-10%.

If, after all this, your heart and mind are ready for the fight, jump aboard, don't look back and keep ploughing through the blood and tears, for on the other side, lays the rainbow of dreams :).

    Wishing you the best @komorebi

I'm impressed you got all those people to show you their brokerage statements.

  4. You asked a good question.
How can I protect my capital at all costs? Is one of the most important questions a new trader can ask imho.
I've been trading (sometimes more active than other times)for a while, and the importance of this has only been seeping through recently.

  5. My name was not there.
That shows how good I am at disguising and being low profile.

If you are looking for long term help you could say. "Here are the skills I possess. Is there anything I could do to help?"

Otherwise ask, "Could you evaluate my potencial for trading?" In my experience trading takes a very important and somewhat rare personality trait which is: the ability to see the next logical step and to then get it done. If this ability is lacking you will always be behind - like playing in the NBA if you are 5 feet tall. It's then better to spend your time elsewhere.

you have learned an important lesson in life. flattery will get you everywhere.

just remember when you hit the button the person/computer at the other end of the trade doesn't give a damn who you are.

My moniker appears on the list but I was not summoned.

I think the question that many fail to appreciate is "what do I want"? Many answer generically, without specificity, or answer specifically with so little desired.

I suspect that many would answer the question above with "I wanna be a trader".

When listening to or querying others, I think the important question is "Why should I listen to them"? On the internet, everyone appears to know more when you are newer. When years roll on and judgement might become refined, few offer legit reasons to be followed.

The most pertinent question imho is how much is your account size? By account size i mean the amount of working capital you have to trade with. It's the amount you are willing to lose in its entirety. Once you figure this out, trading becomes easier (never easy, but easier) since a lot of psychological issues re taking losses etc are more readily dealt with.

  10. I would say that it should not be what you ask others, but what you should first ask yourself.
Being, are you willing to spend the time and effort to learn what is required before you get into the ring with the heavyweight champion of the world? And, do you really have the analytical ability to learn TA or FA? If you can't answer yes to both of these questions, ....................
