IB customer service can't answer the phone?

    What the hell is wrong with this company? I've been with them for years, and the past week I wait on hold for over 5 minutes each call for ANYONE to pick up.

    Absolutely inexcusable.

  2. the pickup time is a function of your account size. 5 minutes or more means you have probably less than 5k in your account.

  3. Any bank or broker call-tree requiring an account number or other identifying info before reaching a human indicates a triage setup, with larger accounts escalated.

    Re IB, they have some accounts in the tens of $millions. They offer small retail super cheap rates, but there's no way to square the circle except to trim customer service.

    It would be helpful if all complainers about IB posted their account size, at least within a broad range. Would provide useful context for their posts.

    My accounts are significant. But at any account size it is inexcusable for a firm the size of IB.
     
  5. Does MSFT customer service pick up when someone calls with a question about his $75 OEM copy of Win8?
     
  6. They are simply running a lean and mean organization so you can enjoy low commission rates.
    Don't like them ? Just move to another broker.....competition is fierce.

    last week i had a technical issue (bug)with the options platform and the live support person not only could not solve the problem but got incredibly upset and mad at me for taking up his time. I opened a new ticket regarding his behavior and I got a more senior person who apologized for his behavior and was more willing to work on it.
    But out of the three brokers i have tried IB support is the worst. I am shopping for a new broker and I am fine with paying higher commission if it means top notch service

  9. Not saying you make up stories but why don't you first earn some reputation on this site before you shoot down one of the most reputable retail brokers with a bazooka?

    They may be reputable. It doesn't mean they have good client service.
    I did mention that I did get another more senior support person who was willing to work through the problem.

    Looking below at the "Simaler Threads" I see this has been discussed often.
    I was mearly stating my experience and i have the chat log to back me up.
