Hi, I moved your post over to this thread. If you wanted to start a new thread in the "Trading" forum for example, you would first go to that forum and then click on the green button at the top right that says "Start a New Thread".

    Hi,
I don't see any green button at the top right, or anywhere for that matter, that says "start a new thread"
    Please comment.

    Its easy.

You must first decide in what section of ET you want to start your new thread.

For example, lets pretend you want to start a discussion in the section called "Trading Software" @ http://www.elitetrader.com/et/index.php?forums/trading-software.3/

You then go there and you'll see in the upper right corner a green button (tab) that says "Start a New Thread". You then click on it and start your new thread.

I think the reason why you couldn't see it before was because you were inside a thread (maybe reading someone's message post) and you tried to start a new thread while inside reading another thread. In that situation, there is no green tab in the upper right corner.

It only makes sense the way Baron has it setup because if he put that "Start a New Thread" button anywhere...the new threads have no way to know which section to post in. For example, pretend there's a "Start a New Thread" on ET's home page...how would the forum know where you want to post that new thread after you typed your opening statement ?

The only way I can think the forum would know is that ET would need to become dependent upon the member to send his/her new thread to the correct location. In reality, most would not care and just post a new thread...resulting in a lot more work for the moderators to determine (guess) the correct section where each new thread should be moved to.

P.S. Baron forum doesn't use drop-down menus. If he did, I'm sure he could then post that "Start a New Thread" menu everywhere because all you would need to do is hoover your mouse arrow over the menu and then all the different sections of ET would show up and you could simply click on the section you want to then post your new thread in that particular section.
