Hillary Clinton asks the elite how to talk ‘income inequality’ without alienating them

Hillary Clinton is actively seeking help on how to approach the ever-dividing talk of “income inequality” and asked one group of people in particular how to discuss the issue without alienating a major base with the means of providing massive funds: the 1 percent.

Hillary spent the month of August lavishly, as the New York Times reports, residing at the elite Hamptons and asking Wall Streeters and other extremely wealthy individuals how she could approach the subject without turning off those exact people with vast loads of money. During this month-long retreat, she mingled with rich liberal mega-donors, lobbyists, and businessmen.

“Among those who have held Hamptons events for Clinton is Susie Tompkins Buell, a long-time Clinton donor, who is a member of the secretive Democracy Alliance. Multiple members of the liberal donor club have already announced their support for Clinton,” the Washington Free Beacon reported.

They continue, “Hedge fund manager and former Goldman Sachs executive Richard Perry, who has a net worth of about $1.2 billion, also held an event for Clinton. So did his fellow Goldman Sachs alum Daniel Neidich, who left the firm to start his own private equity firm.”

“Washington lobbyist Liz Robbins used her house in the Hamptons to host an event for Clinton during her time in the Long Island beach town. She is the sole lobbyist for Liz Robbins Assoc and contributes almost entirely to Democrats, including multiple donations to Hillary Clinton over the years.”

Hillary herself has made a great deal of money on speeches alone the past couple of years, and some Democrats wonder if her net worth and coziness with Wall Street will taint her image.

Since the time that Hillary Clinton left her position as Secretary of State, she has made numerous speeches, allegedly pocketing over $5 million from various firms and corporations. The circuit, and where the money is coming from, led to questions on whether she’d play favorites if she were to run and win the presidency in 2016.

In February of 2013, Clinton stepped down from her position at the State Department and has since made over 90 speeches in just over a year — with at least two dozen of them paid. She’s appeared in front of private equity firms, investment banks, galas for nonprofits, trade association conventions, as well as colleges and universities.

Even liberal outlets, like Mother Jones who first reported on the speaking engagements, have questioned what all of this means if she were to become the next president.

“When she left her position as secretary of state in February 2013, she had for the first time in decades something unusual: time off. She had a year or two to do whatever she wanted before deciding whether to run for the White House,” writes MJ. “In that period, she joined the family foundation and wrote a new memoir. She also hit the speaking circuit—and cashed in, pocketing speaking fees from businesses and trade groups that certainly have an interest in currying favor with a possible president.”

This could be a major problem for her in the future, says one political scientist.

“If somebody comes at her from the left, I certainly can imagine [private equity firm] Kohlberg Kravis Roberts being used against her as a battering ram,” says Rutgers University Political Scientist Russ Baker. “It plays into a narrative that almost anybody left of her would want to develop, that she’s basically part of the Wall Street wing of the Democratic Party.”

  3. Some free advice for Hillary and the rest of her crowd. Quit apologizing for being wealthy. Lose the "white privilege" guilt trip. Of course this would require her to fly squarely in the face of leftist logic, so it is understandably a problem for her.

  4. It's hard for her because she wants to accuse the republicans of being the party of the rich and play the class hatred card obama has used so frequently.

The democrats are an odd party now, composed almost exclusively of super rich Hollywood, homo, Wall Street and corporate lefties and a vast collection of welfare recipients and single issue voters.

The republicans are the party of average voters, and will become more so if the establishment republicans would quit trying to destroy the Tea Party movement. Romney had huge majorities among white men and white women, but that wasn't enough to offset the race-based vote and the welfare clients of the democrats.

which goes to Ann Coulters point about the Democrats trying to change the country (into a 3rd world model) through immigration and amnesty.

    Dear Plutocrats,
Let's talk income inequality, or guillotines. Your choice!

Yawn, Hillary is going to be the next president. She has 5 tv networks that need her. They already had a black president, now they need a woman, and they dread the thought of covering another white male.

Liberal democrats detest her, but once she is the nominee they will support her and crank up their lying propaganda machine. They always do. You'll see it on this site. Democrats that you disagree with and enjoy debating will become rabid insane mindless dogs for the democrat party until the election is over.

  8. Hillary- Typical liberal hypocrite. Rake in the cash and complain about the wealthy.
    Liberalism is a mental disorder

Dear supporter of the cronies... income taxes and death taxes need to be eliminated on the 99.5% if you wish to fix income inequality.
