Mish must have been reading my mind, he posted an article about Brazil today: http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com.au/2015/03/brazil-succeeds-beyond-wildest-dreams.html No individual stocks mentioned, but very good background on the political situation, the BRL and interest rates. .
Subscribed. Read your Japan thread. EWZ and BZQ are now on my watchlist. Poor option liquidity in both. Any thoughts on where this is going?
I really don't know! Taking a step back, the incredible strength in the USD against most currencies has seen massive declines for currencies like the BRL, and possibly associated selling of emerging market equities. For all I know we could be at or near a multi-month or multi-year top in the USD, and that the worst of Brazil's problems could be priced in. This thread is just the initial stages of my research into the country. Speaking of the currency, FX futures (likely to be illiquid) http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/fx/emerging-market/brazilian-real.html BRL etf: symbol BZF http://finance.yahoo.com/quotes/BZF Some stocks http://finance.yahoo.com/quotes/ewz,brzu,^BVSP,GOL,goll4.sa Some more stocks http://finance.yahoo.com/quotes/ewz...b,SBS,abev,tsu,brfs,vale,SID,ERJ,BSBR,ai,dbvt .
Correct me if I'm wrong but trading on Brazil market directly requires you to open an account directly with Brazilian broker. See: https://the-international-investor....broker-list/other-international-stock-brokers
Seems I was wrong - at least in theory as now can offer omnibus accounts - but it seems few if any brokers actually do. http://www.bmfbovespa.com.br/pt-br/a-bmfbovespa/download/Lamina-Trading-Equities.pdf http://www.bmfbovespa.com.br/en-us/international-investors/getting-started-with-bvmf/getting-started-with-bvmf.aspx?idioma=en-us
Not sure, but there are plenty of Brazilian companies' ADRs trading in the US: http://www.adrbny.com/dr_country_pr...yes&startofpage=&startofnext=50&startofprev=0 .
