Bet Size

  1. Bet size or bet stake is the amount of money you bet per point, correct? How does this work if you are trading futures when you have to purchase a contract at a specific margin?

Say I have $8,000 total capital and I want to bet 1/500th of it ($16), how would I place this bet purchasing a futures contract?

1/500th that's kinda low, most future contracts that's like 1 pip / tick / point whatever, 2% so 1/50 $160 is more realistic firstly.

Then you need to purchase a futures contract and set a SL which will be X pts away depending on the value per point if the product your trading.

Well it's highly unlikely to trade futures with 16$ trading margin. But if you can't allow more move on CFD from retail forex broker it is the same trade with the same characterstics - profit, loss, but margin is a little less.
