Hey, Are there any studies are research papers out there that give an average number of trades the average daytrader or professional trader makes per day? Thanks
Not that I know what average is. Between scalpers, timeframes between one minute to 480 minute chartists, some who trade fifteen minutes to twenty hours a day, it be really impossible to know.
In the past two years, I've seen two polls on stocktwits that was posted by a member that asked how many trades per day by those that are day trading versus scalping. I think about 700 traders answered the poll. 7 average trades per day by day traders 32 average trades per day by scalpers In comparison, back in the 90's when day trading and scalping became popular...the average numbers were about 3x higher. Day trading and scalping just are not as popular as it use to be especially after the 2008 - 2009 global financial fiasco. Also, the poll wasn't categorized into stock traders, futures traders and forex traders. Thus, I would imagine the numbers to be greatly different for each group.
