I am trying to give a homework assignment to a bunch of students and they have to use public data sets. Specifically, if I download the dividend file and the price data file, how do these two relate to each other? Is the cash dividend in the dividend file adjusted or unadjusted for splits? E.g. Open price on the ex-div date a year ago is 100; the stock has undergone a 2:1 split since then - if the div amount is 1.00, is it per share at 100 or per share at 50? PS. I assume it's per share at the time, but can't find the actual spec.
