Reminds me of Boxster drivers who complain about 911s, funny!

I saw this monitor yesterday for the first time in person. The most amazing thing about it is just how much easier it is for me to read text on it. People say that the curve is subtle, but I found it to be exactly right.

As is stated above, if you have a mac, you want the version with a thunderbolt port.

The ideal setup for me is, two of these 34", one on top of the other, and two of these 30" on either side, in pivot mode

TCO = $3,700. Then you need either a card that supports four monitors, or two dual cards that can be paired. With Thunderbolt you can chain the monitors, so maybe that is the way to go instead. Still, the card has to support it. A decent computer to house the cards. Probably a Mac Pro with Dual AMD FirePro D500 graphics processors is best:

. The whole setup is going to cost $8,000.

Last night I bought the thunderbolt version of the curved LG 34 inch monitor mentioned earlier in this thread from Amazon. I will update with some feedback once it gets here.

  4. Definitely interested in this new technology...and what graphic cards or motherboard chips are needed to support it. This is 4k resolution, correct ?

  5. I've been considering updating my five year old HP laptop for a while, for a Thinkpad Xeon laptop...but lately, I'm considering buying a 34" curved all-in-one PC instead :)o_O
(I never move my laptop anyways, so why settle for a smaller workstation...go big.)

I like this 34" LG monitor a lot. The curve is subtle but welcomed, and the screen has a matte finish, which is a nice departure from the glossy Apple monitor I used to have. The most natural setup seems to divide the screen into thirds. With your number one app right in the middle flanked by your second and third most used apps on the sides.

Looks more like the desk of a preeminent 20th century novelist. Very nice though. The matte finish would be very welcomed for me as well. Do you find the curve to be more aesthetic or is it actually value added? My thought just from a trading perspective is that--at this red hot second--all I'm doing is writing code. Someday I'll probably watch some ladders too. Do you see the curve conferring value for these applications even though I'm not doing anything full screen like gaming or editing or something where bezels obviously get in the way?

Thanks baron for all you do! Have a good one.

I think that once the monitor gets past 26" or so, the curve helps keep that outer content more readable because it brings the viewing angle back around to a more direct view. So it's definitely a value-add in my opinion.

One thing I don't like from an aesthetic standpoint is that the power cable for it is snow white, so it sticks out like a sore thumb in my office. I wish these manufacturers would stop copying Apple on the cable color and just go back to black or some other dark color.
