Where are you getting this stuff? the whole point of meditation is to disconnect from your present reality and not focus on anything. Coming back refreshed and unbiased is the way to improve your trading, but if you don't have enough experience and knowledge than nothing will help your trading other than more hard work. So the question now is, what do you really think you know and is it real? Meditate on that.
I would say that disconnecting is using energy to move away from. If I'm meditating and the dog is barking, I don't want to disconnect from that. I want to acknowledge it a let it pass. Back to the present moment.
What I think I know is usually not accurate. Once in awhile the unusual happens, and I pay attention to it. Then it's simply a matter of whether it's me imagining something, or whether there really is change.
I would ask you, what is it about your present reality do you need to disconnect from? Doing so is disconnecting, not meditating.
i can identify with your experience(s) i also read "Nothing" years ago i've been reading the talks in "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind", on and off for years [plus other books on him] marc
I gave my copy to Mickey Hoffman, who used to train traders at the CME. He really liked it. So much so that he never gave it back. Haha
"Misconception 7: Meditation is Running Away From Reality. Incorrect. Meditation is running straight into reality. It does not insulate you from the pain of life but rather allows you to delve so deeply into life and all its aspects that you pierce the pain barrier and go beyond suffering." --from Mindfulness in Plain English by Bhante Gunaratana.
