Scamming Trading Gurus

Some see trading ipso facto as a scamming enterprise, therefore it is not an outlandish or libelous claim to assert that trading gurus engage in scamming. I define a guru as one who teaches trading for profit and relies on unverifiable pretenses of authority and competency.

The two types of gurus often found to exploit new or vulnerable traders are 1. sociopathic-deceptive scamming gurus and 2. delusional gurus.

Sociopathic-deceptive scamming gurus display remarkable instinctive insights, typical of sociopaths, into how to manipulate and exploit their prey. These gurus often discreetly lurk on forums and social media with pretenses of helping people with their trading wisdom, as the newbie or unprofitable trader becomes ensnared by their apparent compassion and wisdom. The sociopathic guru knows that by engaging in displays such as freely sharing their trading wisdom and unverified trading blotter they have set the hook to trap the new or unprofitable trader, resulting in guaranteed profits for the sociopathic guru and possibly unlimited losses for the guru's prey, which the sociopath rationalizes by assigning blame to their prey for biting onto the hook.

Delusional gurus are semi-honest and think that they are helping others by sharing their ideas while also making a steady and risk-free income, which they cannot find from trading. They are deluded by randomness, they believe their interpretation of randomness and do not display the deception and predatory behavior of the sociopathic scamming guru.

I love Elite Trader. This is why I come here often and spend all my time here. Thanks Q3D ....for making ET what it is.

  3. Everyone is essentially a scammer if they cannot guarantee performance.
If you want guaranteed (shitty) performance...then leave your money in a savings or checking account.

I use to kind of consider Tim Sykes a scammer, but now...not so much.
His method worked for him :confused:-- now if it cannot work on you, or people who buys his stuff...then that's their problem. But that doesn't mean he's a scammer.

There are different types of scammers and the distinctions must be made and the evidence should be allowed to be freely presented, so community members can draw their own conclusions about who belongs to the deceptive-sociopath scamming group.

The deceptive-sociopath scammer is hidden in plain sight and is met with an antiquated laissez-faire attitude from selfish (or stealth vendor) trading forum members. The freedom of information and increased opportunity for non-monetary-based cooperation now available online has made their primitive and unethical conduct obsolete.

  5. Tim Sykes is a scammer and there is more than enough evidence of that around.

on bigmikes forum there was a thread that went on for years with a guru giving all sorts of useful advice. Hundreds and hundreds of likes. people kissing his ass . He was one of Dean Handley's "master traders". Even big mike was fooled.

Then he got exposed as a complete con man.. Elitetrader has these very skilled artists toO: but have sympathy for the poor minions who support them: they are caught up in a cult.

I am not familiar with Timothy Sykes' exploits specifically. Can you please share some circumstantial evidence to strengthen your assertion that Sykes is a scammer and help community members draw their own conclusions?

  9. Not to be flippant in response but do an internet search for Tim Sykes scam/scammer and see what you think, there's plenty of stories and more than a few who share the same belief that I do.

Like any good scammer there is some legitimacy to what he offers but if you follow his trades recommendations/alerts he will be the only one making money. Penny stocks are the world of con artist and charlatans. Very few people who aren't front running or pump and dumping will ever make money in penny stocks.

I remember this Jaguar Ed - protraderedspot guy. He would be an example of a deluded scammer. He along with Felton kept spewing so much talk like a guru. There were some prominent members who weren't vendor scammers but also deluded and put on a con show in their sim journals never showing their losers and always circling winners on after the fact charts. Some of them attempted to become short lived scammers.
