Starting typing an answer then realized the question was too full of vag to be worth answering... going long vol without paying for it haha... Almost every suggestion OP made proves why many traders should stay in the kiddie pool and avoid touching vol.
Speaking of vag, you can acquire some volatility without paying for it. It might only be downside though.
