Thank you for your concern, yes I have serious psychiatric issues in my past which is why I turned to trading after college, obviously I hate this line of work, in a philosophical sense. Thank you for bringing this to light.

There is a disconnect between the two paragraphs in your post. As a career failed trader, what do you know of what a discretionary trader needs to trade profitably?

    Q3D,

The nature of money (finances) causes problems itself for most people on this planet unless someone is the few that don't need it and/or don't care about it.

Your mental well being is more important than your financial well being. Unfortunately, for many both are tied together. Also, I believe (my opinion) that the mental aspects of life itself (not so much about trading) will decide how we view our finances or view trading including having an impact on our quality of life.

I've personally seen several wealthy people lose all their personal wealth or businesses...I've seen the depression that follows. We as traders are no different from anyone else...arguably and philosophically we have more financial pressure to succeed.

Yeah, when I was in college...I did a few internships and hated them. I guess I was lucky because I then realize exactly what I did not want to do while still in college even though I was educated for such.

You gotta find that "safe place" in your trading and use it whenever needed to keep you in the game. Without it, things begin to fall apart.
