Anyone use a 32" or 34" monitor?

  1. Algos are trivial but I also trade in events where I need to stay firmly between the low latency machines I'll never be as fast as and the Excel/hand-based traders I need to always be faster than. I use a Java-based charting application which is a resource hog, and I also use Chrome which is a resource hog. I prefer those be on a second CPU. And I host a NAS for my family which is on a 3rd. I find Dell Latitudes from the Dell Business Outlet store to be insane values. I've had too many consumer-grade desktops and laptops be revealed to be junk. I have 6 Lats now (done with that) and not a one has ever failed over the years. And not once has an Outlet Lat arrived that was anything but brand new, by the way. Not a speck anywhere. I have no idea why they are sold as Outlet.

Thanks, I was just curious as to why you would need multiple computers to trade. :)

  3. Sorry forgot to note the TVs are no longer made and are of course not as cost-effective as a pure monitor. When I bought the TVs they specced out better than the monitors and have Sony reliability. They are on 12 hours a day for 2.5 years now and are as perfect as when I bought them. I've been lucky over the years to not end up with Chinese garbage display units. I have two "original" Sharp AQUOS LCD TVs, panels made in Japan, that are each 10 years old and as perfect as when I bought them. So given the China problem please be careful to buy from someone you can easily return the unit to. I've had good experiences with Jet.com, who match the lowest price and have a "no questions asked, free return shipping, no restocking fee" 30-day return policy.

Is there any preference or pros/cons for HDMI vs. Displayport when using a single or multiple monitors?

HDMI 2.0 supports 3840 x 2160. That is what I use for my 4k monitor.

  8. just bought one of these 31.5 inch monitors, a week ago

    Vizta NA V32LMH1 31.5" Screen LED-Lit Monitor

this is kind of an off brand monitor, at less than $250
so far, so good; long term i don't know

the [non-picture] monitor itself really looks nice

the picture quality is fine, for me [time will tell, quality wise]

I have a benq 32" 4k monitor. Replaced two dell 24 " monitors. Would recommend. The new skylake intel processor runs 4k at 60hz without the need for a seperate graphics card.
