  2. i have seen this model before, there are pros and cons....i am currently working on an fx strategy and was contemplating whether to keep it proprietary or opening up to outside investors if profitable after going live...

the thing is, lets say they allocate 1mm USD...with a max notional drawdown of 5% as per the website, that means you can lose 50k in a month as per their parameters. On a 25% profits split that equates to 13k USD if you were to trade it personally........if you are already profitable and can afford to lose 13k, you might as well reinvest your profits and take advantage of the intraday leverage already provided by brokers and keep 100%...no point in signing up and losing out on the scalability of your strategy..

if you are a swing trader, then the outside funding is probably better bc stomaching overnight vol can be tough sometimes for individuals

it only really makes sense if you strategy is very scalabel and they can bump you up from 1mm to 20mm in notional overnight to justify the 25% profit split....1mm in starting capital is a waste of time
