ignored members

Discussion in 'Feedback' started by Eddiemorra, Oct 3, 2015.

  1. Hi.
What ever happened with the idea that was apparently in the process of being initiated whereby members on the thread starters 'ignore list' were unable to post in their thread?

    Did it get scrapped? :(

  2. Stupid idea ........... You might have them on ignore BUT other people might want their input.

    :)

  3. Then they can start their own thread! lol Or better yet, use the pm function.
Anyway, was just wondering. I remember DBPhoenix was very much looking forward to this feature being implemented, but it seems to have been scrapped.
Was just curious more than anything.

Hooti asked this exact same thing just the other day as well, with no response as well.

I was looking forward to this as well. As much as I hate the idea of too much censorship, it seems like many posters were reluctant to share anymore because they didn't want to argue. So by giving them what they wanted, I was curious to see if this would have led to posts/discussions with more substance.

If you're reading Baron, perhaps you could give us an update? You had said at the time that by the weekend, this feature would have been in place, but this never happened. Did you change your mind about wanting to implement it or was it perhaps too much of a nightmare logistically?

Apparently it doesn't exist yet. It would reduce the number of posts, and that is something that makes this site look more or less competitive to other forums, vendors, etc... I guess.

I stopped posting for over a year, and have mixed feelings about posting more now.
Having about 40 people on ignore makes it better to be here. But that only goes so far. Why should I post my reality when others have to sort through so much crap to read it?

So what I post is in a way indirect. Let the one's with ears to hear, hear.

It would increase the number of posts. Those who have to complain about something wouldn't be able to attract followers so they would have to find legitimate things to complain about. I know, I know, they're not capable of that but they will join the topics where others have legitimate complaints.

The few members who frequently contribute content (different from complaining) will be free from the burden of having squatters on their journals. They will start more and more new threads. Some of the complainers might crossover and adopt new habits and hobbies.

It's a win/win for everyone. The worst complainer on the site stands to benefit the most tho they might not see it that way initially. The site definitely wins. Barron wins. The few who contribute good content and initiate the threads that lead to others contributing good content definitely win. Those are the few members who should be most catered to via all policies because focusing on trading can create a focused environment.

It leads to more, not less posting.

This isn't about shutting down the complainers. They are free to create any topics they want and try to gather followers. Some existing (and new) threads won't block counter-views because they desire that input but the few that don't want it won't have to have it in their face on their journals. It will be on a parallel thread nearby.

The complainers definitely won't block counter-views from their threads because they thrive on the interaction with those they are complaining about. In rare cases they might block someone that's always winning and making them feel their complaints are invalid but those weak complainers will switch to following the strong complainers. They won't mind switching because it will be more fun for them to finally have something worth complaining about.
