There's a plenty of large 4K monitors for reasonable price these days e.g. http://is.gd/7I8oy0 They use IPS technology and 60 Hz freq. which makes them the same quality as smaller monitors. We live in great time Having one 48'' 4K LCD is the same as having four 24'' FHD LCDs. The size and resolution of graphics will be the same. Just make sure your graphic card is capable of this resolution (with DisplayPort 1.2 or HDMI 2.0)
I'm planning on doing just this looking at a 48-50" (maybe up to 55) curved 4k TV to replace all my 24" monitors and a Nvidia GTX960 card that has a hdmi 2.0 output, probably going to look for a black friday deal.
I have seen some solution from Dell especially for the traders, it have something like for example one big 44" monitor but with ability to divide it amongst all other people anyway. Something like $1000 or more it have costed, not sure, try to search for it.
