  1. Anybody buy 1000 widgets from Alibaba for resale on Ebay?

I'm sure some people on ET have looked into this. Buy in bulk from Alibaba and sell the items individually on Ebay or locally. Has anybody tried that?

  2. I have not ever received anything from Alibaba that was not a replica, pirate, copyright/trademark infringement, counterfeit etc...

The quality is often high and sometimes higher than a non alibaba (ie, amazon or jet) item. But ebay looks very closely at the trademark or copyright of the products you sell and will ban you very very quickly even if there is just a question (sometimes competing US or EU wholesalers will order one of your items and just claim that it is counterfeit and that is enough to get banned on ebay). Then you have 999 widgets in your garage for ever.

  3. OK ..... Thanks for your reply. I'm interested in a stainless steel 5L small beer keg, I requested a quote and it came in at $13.50 each for 48 items. I see them for about $35.00 to $70.00 each.

Craft Beer is very popular so my idea is to assemble a 2 or 3 keg draft beer setup and try and sell them for 100%+ markup.

  4. Oh sorry...yea thats very different. I think that would work. If its any unbranded systems, parts or replacement units I think that could work well. I saw alot of people out there with very high sales selling stuff like that. they seemed to be the power sellers that lasted and built up long term businesses.

Well, the only other things I have to offer there are things like

set up a good efficient packing and labeling system (it can get time consuming)
offer more than just paypal (they can be buggers sometimes)
never make any promises regarding shipping times, re-stocking dates
communicate often on every order (use automated email send outs that allow reply)
know your seasons and stock up accordingly (Start of football season/playoffs/world cup euro cup Olympics, Christmas (boxing day)-New Years and other holidays are a mad house)

PS: If you like you aibaba vendor (or vendors) and feel the quality and consistency is there (most of the time it is) don't hesitate to re-brand the system with your own business name (create a logo). It will add to the professional feel of the product and create a lot of loyality.
