I think the markup for the coin is slightly higher than the gold bar. The bar is about $25 cheaper than the gold Eagle. I only care about the shinny gold, bar is just fine, and preferred.
I buy from Apmex.com. Generally they sell for anywhere from $25 to $40 over spot for the types of bars you mention.

I just wonder if it is better to buy it at local jewelery store, or order it online? I'm not sure I'd pay local sales tax. But I'll have to pay shipping to order through internet. Shipping normally is about $25 to $30 for 1 oz bar.
Hello! I am from Russia. I'm in Russia, in other states, gold bars sell to individuals is prohibited. You can sell gold, bank coin (with certificate), using international postal company. This is a nice, expensive gift, or a well-monetary investment. After all, in their own country, Russian coins you probably will not find ... Who is interested in Russian gold, write in skype: numismatics. Best regards, Andrey Andreev.
