You may have got a unit with a defective fan or bad temperature sensor which is causing it. I am not defending Lenovo, but personal experience with other computers

  2. The day they figure out how to put a powerful chip in a fanless design will be a great day indeed.

  3. Perhaps, but I googled the subject and it seems to be a common complaint with this model.

Well, my old Asus Zenbook had an i5 and it was virtually noise-free. At least compared to this.

The new M-processors are fanless, but I'm not sure they're powerful enough to suit my needs.

Most likely, I will go for an Asus Zenbook.

Keep us updated on what you get. I am also looking for a decent light laptop that works well for trading

  5. Just wait for Skylake next month.

  6. Will do. The fan seems to be more quiet lately. Or perhaps I've just gotten used to it.

I know that initially, there runs a lot of programs with updating and so on. This requires processing power.

Still, it worries me that it became so loud, so I'm wondering if I should exercise my money-back-guarantee and go with an ASUS.

    Hmm...any ideas on pricing?

Well, you can't go wrong with a new Asus Zenbook. I have bought 2 Dell laptops in the past 4 years, both very cheap for the hardware specs but both came so preloaded with bloatware that I had to spend hours uninstalling it. Crap still pops up that I have no idea what the hell it is coming from.

Did you check out the new Lenovo Lavie Z in the link I posted further up? The nice thing it is actually a NEC built in Japan and rebranded by Lenovo for USA. Worlds lightest 13 inch laptop

  9. I wanted to avoid the hazzle, but I'm returning my Lenovo Yoga and buying an Asus Zenbook UX303 instead.

I was in doubt, but several of the reviews of the Asus emphasized its great performance and how silent it is. This is similar to my experience with my old Zenbook. I never noticed any noise to speak of, which is probably why the Lenovo bugged me so much.

The Asus also have an I7 processor at the same price I paid for the Yoga with I5, so in the end it was a no brainer.

I loved the design of the Yoga, but the Asus Zenbooks are pretty nice as well.
