You are not buying anything. It is just an additional cost. There is no (potential) benefit from this fee for the trader paying it.

  3. who has filed Taxes and factored in the IB exposure fee. I will do the following - take my most profitable trades from last year and arbritaritly deduct the Exposure fee so I dont end up paying taxes on themb

  4. Risk exposure is well controlled by margin requirement. This Exposure Fee is just a hidden charge with a fancy name. I think IB is not in good financial situation now, so that more blood need be sucked from innocent customers.

Does this Exposure Fee state on Daily Statement? I'll look around other brokers who don't have uncontrollable hidden fee. Shame on IB!

  5. They're in great shape - have you listened to any of the quarterly conference calls? You don't have to use them, but you might want to own the stock ;)

  6. "Interactive Brokers will calculate the Exposure Fee in its own discretion and using its own proprietary algorithms (which are subject to change without notice) to determine the exposure that an account poses to the firm......."

Based on above statement, they can charge any amount they wish without clear guideline. Just for that, I am looking for another broker who is honest and clear about the fees now.

  7. IB won't be in great shape once more customers start to leave because of IB's shady business practice. I might short IB stock if I want to own it;)

Just looked IB stock, it dropped 8.34% last three weeks. Maybe the market is predicting the same outcome for IB as I mentioned above. I better short IB stock quickly to make up the loss from IB Exposure Fee;)

I was pissed when they started charging me.... I looked around for a better broker but could not find one that served my needs especially the mobile app.... Yes, the exposure fee is a pain in the ass but i am viewing it as increase in transaction costs.... IB is still lower than any decent broker.... if you find a real viable alternative please let me know!

BTW, FYI, IB doubled the exposure fee at the end of January!

  9. I don't need mobile app. All I need is a broker with similar commissin without shady hidden charge. If you find such a broker, please let me know!

Advantage Futures just contacted me. they have better commission if monthly trading volume is more than 190 contracts.
